vs Hedy AI

AptSay vs Hedy AI.

Hedy is a capable meeting transcriber. AptSay is a real-time sales coach. Here is the difference.

Hedy built something good: a cross-platform meeting assistant with live transcripts and post-call summaries. If you need transcription and organization, it works. But for sales calls — where the job is to coach the rep into the right next move inside the conversational beat — we built AptSay differently on three dimensions.

AptSay Hedy AI
Real-time coaching Proactive, continuously streams suggestions Users must type questions to trigger the assistant
Sales framework depth SPIN · MEDDPICC · BANT · custom skills General meeting coaching
Project memory Persistent state across meetings in a deal Topic folders, non-structured
Platform macOS native macOS · iOS · Android · Web
Privacy architecture Local ASR, zero audio upload Cloud transcription

Proactive, not prompted

The biggest delta: Hedy coaches you when you ask. AptSay coaches you while the customer is talking. In a live sales call, having to type a question defeats the point — you already know there is a signal you need to respond to, which is why you wanted to ask. AptSay surfaces the signal and the response without you touching the keyboard.

Built for a sales framework, not a generic meeting

Sales calls are not generic meetings. A discovery call follows specific patterns — SPIN's Situation-Problem-Implication-Need arc, MEDDPICC's economic buyer checkpoint, BANT's budget qualification. AptSay coaches against whichever framework your team uses. The skill is a markdown file, so your sales ops lead can write your custom playbook in 30 minutes.

macOS-only, on purpose

Hedy ships on every platform. We ship only on macOS — because sales reps in the market we target live on MacBooks and because restricting the surface lets us do things that cross-platform tools cannot: local ASR through the Mac's audio subsystem, native SF Pro typography that reads as part of the OS, and tight integration with future Spotlight / Shortcuts hooks.

Questions

Can I use my existing Hedy transcripts with AptSay?

No direct import today. AptSay learns your deal from what you tell it at the start of the meeting plus any Project documents you upload. Historical transcripts are useful context but not required — most of our early users just install AptSay and start with their next live call.

Does AptSay work in person, the way Hedy does on Apple Watch?

Yes, for in-person meetings where your Mac is running (on a desk or lap). We do not ship an Apple Watch client because the core value — streaming coaching suggestions you can glance at — needs more screen real estate than a watch face.

I like Hedy for my classes and personal calls. Can I use both?

Sure. They do not conflict. AptSay is designed for sales calls; Hedy works well as a general-purpose meeting notetaker. Keep whichever you like for whichever job.
